
Remembering a Good Life — Margie Andersen

Margie Andersen, age 87, loving and loved wife of Harold D. Andersen of Vista, CA passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, CA.
Born June 3, 1932, in East Los Angeles, CA, she was the 3rd of 4 daughters born to the lates Berenice and John P. Waltman. Margie grew up in East Los Angeles where she attended Garfield High School. Harold Andersen, also a student and a football player at Garfield High, who had not yet met Margie, pointed her out to his friends and told them, “See that girl? I’m going to marry her.”
He did exactly that on July 9, 1950.
Their family started a year later with 5 children in 5 years, a daughter and 4 sons, later followed by 2 more daughters for a total of 7 children.
Margie was a very busy, loving wife and mother and later grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. Her husband and children were her world. In addition to being a wonderful wife, she was a great mother and many more kids called her “Mom” than she gave birth to. She exuded love. No one could leave her without many hugs and at least 2 kisses.
She loved attending anything the kids and grandkids were involved in, especially sports and dance events. Margie and Harold loved and owned many different kinds of animals during their life together. Midgie, her Maltese dog has been a favorite. She also loved reading, puzzles, music, musicals, camping and hunting trips, and cruises.
Margie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Harold D Andersen, her daughter, Carole Andersen, her sons, Harold Jr. and his wife Georganne Andersen, John Andersen, Gregory and his wife Kim Andersen, Gary and his wife Tamela Andersen, her daughters, Janell and her husband John Land II, and Margie and her husband Brooks Chapman.
She is survived by 23 grandchildren and their spouses, numerous great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Janet Claudia Samson and her husband David Samson and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by granddaughter, Stacey Land, and great-grandson, Cohen Pittsenberger, her 2 older sisters, Barbara Atkinson and Josie Johnson and their spouses, 4 nieces and a nephew.
